4 Essential Tips for Planning the Best Event This Summer

Whether you’re planning a wedding, class reunion, or charity event, you likely hope it will be one of the best San Diego parties of the summer. When you plan your party, you’ll want to remember a few key details, such as choosing the right venue and selecting a great theme. If you keep a few of the top party planning tips in mind, your event is sure to be one of the most memorable San Diego parties this year!

Make a Checklist

Before you begin planning your event, make sure that you start with a checklist. This list will help to keep you grounded if you find yourself overwhelmed by the planning process. First, write down all of the details you want to cover before the special day arrives. Then, think about any areas that you need to make decisions about, such as how many people you want to invite and what type of cuisine you’d like to serve your guests. Next, revise the list as needed – you may be surprised at how much a checklist can help you to stay organized.

Select a Time and Secure a Place

One of the most important steps you’ll take when planning your event is deciding when and where you’ll hold it. Choose the date that you wish to throw your party, and then decide which venue would be the most suitable. Do you want to throw a casual barbecue? If so, you might opt for a backyard shindig with a catered barbecue menu. Do you seek an elegant day that your guests will remember fondly? If that is the case, you might book your event at a local golf club. Just remember that many people will be planning their San Diego parties this summer, as well – so the sooner that you can secure the date at the venue of your choice, the better.

Choose a Unique Theme

The theme you choose for your party will help to tie the event together in a fun and unique way. If you’re throwing a graduation party for an adolescent, you might opt for a theme that reflects that individual’s major interest in high school (such as soccer, debate club, or theater). To give your wedding a unique feel, you could plan the day around a vintage theme (including vintage wedding attire and a classic car to take the newlyweds from the ceremony to the reception). By choosing a noteworthy theme, you will help to ensure that your event is one of the most fabulous San Diego parties this season.

Once you begin planning your event, you will likely find that the ideas start to flow. Getting ready to host a special occasion should be a gratifying experience. By staying organized and making note of important details, you are sure to throw one of the best San Diego parties this summer. Whether you’re hosting a.

5 Creative Ideas for your Holiday Party This Year

While the holidays are all about tradition, there is nothing wrong with sprucing up your celebration with a unique party theme to keep things interesting.  Whether you are looking to have an intimate gathering for family and friends or a large corporate event, these creative party ideas will have everyone rushing to RSVP for your next event at our premier San Diego Golf Club:

Tropical Christmas

Fun in the sun never seems to get old, and a tropical-themed Christmas party is both unique and fun for all ages!  Santa relaxing with his sunglasses resting above his white beard is always a refreshing sight. The room can be decorated with such things as starfish ornaments, seashell wreaths and snowmen ironically ready for the beach.  Serve some tropical cocktails with mini umbrellas and island-inspired dishes to complete the mood.  For even more fun, ask your guests to dress the part as well!

Winter Wonderland

This party theme is particularly effective if you live in a place where it doesn't snow, such as Southern California.  The winter wonderland theme is elegant, traditional, and stunning.  Use white furniture with icy blue accents and metallic decor.  Food items could have edible blue accents, gold balls and silver glitter sprinkles on them for a fun, frosted effect.

Retro Christmas

The more modern we become, the more we seem to value the simpler times.  In today's high-tech society, anything that can be considered vintage is very popular!  Having a retro-themed holiday party will be a big hit with your guests.  Find unique, vintage holiday decorations in local thrift stores.  Use retro serving wear and felt, glitter and construction paper accents throughout your space.  Serve only classic hors d’oeuvres - Oysters Florentine, anyone? - and beverages in glass bottles with paper straws.  Be sure to gather your guests together to sing traditional Christmas carols!

Nightmare Before Christmas

If you are looking to truly break free from tradition with your holiday celebration, nothing says non-mainstream like a Tim Burton party.  Model your party around the classic movie, Nightmare Before Christmas, with more of a whimsical meets dark gothic feel.  Bring out the candelabras and dark, shimmery decor as you celebrate the holidays.  Play some offbeat holiday music as you party in the most unexpected of ways.

Santa's Workshop

Whether your holiday celebration will be.

Ten Great Things to Do in San Diego

San Diego is the second largest city in California and is home to a wide range of activities and attractions that both tourists and residents can enjoy. Here are ten of the great things to do in San Diego on your visit, whether it's admiring animals in the zoo or tearing it up on a San Diego golf course.

1. Balboa Park

Balboa Park is one of San Diego's greatest jewels.  Located in the heart of downtown, Balboa Park is home to a number of attractions including museums, performing arts centers, gardens, and so much more.  It's also the perfect place to take a stroll, ride a bike, and admire the intricate Spanish-Renaissance architecture.

2. San Diego Zoo & Safari Park

No trip to San Diego can be complete without a visit to the world-famous zoo.  The biggest attraction at the San Diego Zoo & Safari Park is definitely their giant pandas, but with over 4,000 rare and endangered animals covering some 800 plus species, there's plenty more to see.

3. Sunset Cliffs National Park

Hop in the car and take a drive out to Sunset Cliffs Natural Park where you can enjoy the dramatic sandstone cliffs and hike through pristine vegetation.  It might take a little extra effort to get out of town, but the fiery sunsets make it well worth the trip.

4. La Jolla Cove

La Jolla Cove is the best place in San Diego to play in the water.  Have fun kayaking, snorkeling, and diving along this gorgeous piece of coastline where caves and calm waters make a safe home for rays and even leopard sharks.

5. Harbor Cruise

Hop on a harbor cruise downtown to catch views along Point Loma, Coronado Bridge, the Navy Seals Training Base, and downtown.  The cruises leave from the waterfront near downtown and you can enjoy brunch or dinner on the boat.

6. Mission Beach

The beach is part of San Diego's culture and you won't want to miss Mission Beach, a 2-mile stretch of white sand that perfectly fits the SoCal palm tree/surfer/bikini beaches from the movies.  It's one of the most popular shorelines in the city, even the Pacific seals come here to hang out.

7. Coronado Island

Coronado Island is actually a peninsula, but regardless of the name, it's packed with fun activities. Take the Coronado Waling Tour or just stroll along the beach, stopping by the classic Hotel Del Coronado to grab an ice cream cone.

8. Cabrillo National Monument

If you're looking for a hike or nice drive, check out the Cabrillo National Monument ten miles southwest of downtown at the tip of Point Loma.  This statue commemorates Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo, the first European explorer to navigate the California Coast.  Situated 422 feet above sea level, it's also offers spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean and occasional whale spotting opportunities between December and February.

9. USS Midway Museum

Learn what life is like aboard a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier in a visit to the USS Midway Museum. There are 60 different exhibits to explore on this ship, the longest-serving American aircraft carrier in the 20th century.

10. Golfing
